As Chief Safety Advisor with over three decades of professional experience, Gary serves as the President/Founder of Industrial Safety & Training Services. In this executive capacity, he manages and leads a staff of 18 HSE professionals responsible for aiding over 450 customers. Gary focuses his efforts on the following areas:
  • Developing and implementing overall Emergency Management Systems
  • Facilitating HSEEP Exercises and NIMS training systems
  • Developing and implementing Risk Management Programs
  • Developing and implementing Safe Work Practices (Hot Work, Confined Spaces, Energy Control (LOTO), PPE, and Respiratory Protection)
  • Electrical Safety / Arc Flash
  • Emergency Preparedness, Training, and Response
  • High Level HAZMAT Response Training
  • Helping Customers with PSM, RMP and RCRA compliances


Before opening the doors to Industrial Safety & Training Services, Gary held positions with two Fortune 500 companies ranging from Safety Engineer, EHS Lead, Safety & Training Manager to Corporate Responsible Care Manager.  Gary served 35 years as an Emergency Responder holding ranks from Fire Chief, Chief Safety Officer, and Suburban Louisville Special Operations Chief. He holds several degrees and certificates, AA in Fire Service  Management, BS in Industrial Risk Management and Safety Engineering and a MS in Safety Administration, all from Eastern Kentucky University. Gary is also a graduate of National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO).

​With 10 + years of industry experience, Austin currently serves as Director of Business Development and HSE Manager for Industrial Safety & Training Services. He is responsible for the growth & development aspect of the business.

Austin has held multiple positions previously before becoming HSE Manager at ISTS Inc that has helped him craft his safety/environmental knowledge. He has held the roles of Regional Safety Coordinator for a Large HVAC Company in the Louisville KY area . He also assisted in some environmental consulting abatement/oversight for a few years.  Austin received a BS in Safety from Western Kentucky University in 2017. Austin received his first board certification in 2024 with the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager Credential ( CHMM). Austin also serves as an Authorized OSHA Instructor for the Construction & General Industry.

Justin Yurt, ASP
HSE Manager


​Justin Yurt is the Director of Finance and HSE Manager at Industrial Safety and Training Services, where he has honed his expertise since he started with the company in 2022. Holding an Associate Safety Professional credential earned in 2025, Justin is preparing to pursue the Certified Safety Professional credential in 2026. He specializes in emergency response training, delivering critical instruction in areas such as medical response, confined space entry/rescue, hazardous materials, fall protection, and fall rescue. Justin is committed to fostering safe work environments through comprehensive training and practical solutions. Outside of work, he values the importance of family and friends, cherishing the time spent with them.

As the Director of Operations and HSE Manager with 15 years of experience in safety and health, Kevin plays a vital role in management at ISTS. He heads the construction safety division, overseeing training projects and managing client relationships. Kevin is passionate about enhancing internal processes and fostering employee development. Growing up in an environment focused on fire and safety, consulting became a natural career choice for him.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Kevin enjoys times with family, friends and is deeply involved in his church and ministry, attributing his achievements in business and life to his faith and walk with Christ.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Jeff has spent over 12 years serving his local community as a Firefighter/EMR currently holding rank of Sergeant in Oldham County Kentucky.

​Jack is the Sr. HSE Specialist  with over 6 years of experience in the field, including 3 years with ISTS. Since graduating from the Murray State University Occupational Health and Safety Program in 2018, Jack has been committed to providing a high level of training and expertise to ensure employees have all the tools and knowledge to safely perform their jobs. Jack has an absolute love and appreciation for the growth and development of both himself and anyone for whom he provides a service. He values the days when he can not only share his knowledge but learn something in return. Jack aims to obtain his CSP designation by the end of the year, a milestone that will enhance his role within ISTS and contribute long-term value to the company and its clients.

Ted Litteral brings over 40 years of experience in construction, industrial, and railway environments to his role as an Sr. HSE Specialist with Industrial Safety & Training Services. Serving multiple accounts across diverse industries, Ted’s deep-rooted expertise and hands-on knowledge underscore his strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Throughout his career, Ted has developed a reputation for reliability, practical training, and proactive safety leadership. His broad experience allows him to effectively communicate and implement safety practices across various work environments.

Before joining ISTS, Ted held key safety and environmental roles, including Health, Environmental, Safety, and Energy Coordinator for a global automotive manufacturing facility in the Louisville, KY area. He is also a former locomotive engineer, where he was actively involved in safety teams and employee training initiatives.
Ted earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Kentucky and holds numerous safety certifications accumulated over his extensive career.
In his personal time, Ted enjoys boating, tackling home improvement projects, and cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

HSE Specialist


Alex Yurt, an HSE Specialist, is an up-and-coming safety professional with 3 years of experience. Alex graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 2025, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in safety and a GSP.
Alex has knowledge and experience in:

  • Safety Management (Policy Creation, LOTO Procedures, Noise Studies, Emergency Procedures, and Site Audits)
Alex started up with Industrial Safety and Training Services in the summer of 2022 as a safety intern and has now worked his way into the role of HSE Technician. Alex demonstrates a strong eagerness to learn, backed by remarkable drive and unwavering confidence that consistently fuels his growth and performance. In the coming years, Alex will be working his way into obtaining a CSP.

Montague, Patrick R, B.S., CFO
HSE Specialist


With over 30 years of experience in emergency services, Patrick currently serves as an HSE Specialist with Industrial Safety & Training Services. He is responsible for delivering world class instruction from real world experiences. Patrick has previously served as a Special Operations Command Chief, Incident Management Team Leader, Tactical Medic, and is a credentialed Chief Fire Officer through the CPSE. Patrick has extensive knowledge in the following:

Previously, Patrick retired after 26 years in the fire service and worked for NIOSH as a Firefighter Fatality Investigator investigating the line of duty deaths of our country’s firefighters. Identifying root causation, contributing factors and writing published federal reports with national recommendations. Patrick has spent years advocating for employee safety through both academic and technical competencies.

ISTS specializes in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Occupational Safety & Health, U.S. Department of Transportation and National Fire Protection Association required classes for Employees and Emergency Responders. All courses meet and exceed Federal Guidelines. Specialized courses can be developed to meet the unique needs of your organization.

All of our staff are certified and have extensive experience in the fields in which they teach. They undergo extensive testing and continuous update training to insure that you the client receives the best possible services. ISTS provides a full range of Safety and Health training services for employees in both the Public and Private sectors.

Our staff have taught at various locations throughout the country, to include the chemical industry, major manufacturing, power generation, construction, beverage industry, warehousing, medical, childcare, retail, environmental, maritime, oil & gas well drilling, shipyards and transportation industry.
The staff at ISTS have had direct, hands-on experience in responding to hazardous substance releases, confined space rescues, high/low angle rescues as well as experience in the common difficulties encountered in training/educating "adult learners".
